Method and device for copy protection in digital video network |
abstract |
In a method and system for providing copy protection, such as video analog and digital signals, the signals are transmitted over a digital distribution network, for example a Paper View (PPV) program protected by the copyright of each program owner. Contains the material. The rights holders authorize the video service provider 3 to use copy protection for the program material. This copy protection process is supplied to the rights holder or service provider 3 by the copy protection process licensor. The video service provider 3 supplies the appropriate copy protection control software through each control and billing (tracking) center to generate commands for activating, controlling and reconfiguring the copy protection process applied to the transmitted program. The set-top box 10 is provided to each consumer and includes copy protection circuitry adapted to apply a selected anti-copy waveform to a video signal corresponding to the program material in response to a command from the service provider 3. do. The usage data of each consumer is returned by the set-top box 10 to the service providers 3 to report the copy protection usage to each rights holder and process licensor. |
