abstract |
The present invention relates to a powder coating method for unprimed aluminum and steel surfaces. The process provides that at least some of the adjacent amide bonds present along the polymer backbone have one or more pendant alkyl branched chains of one to three carbon atoms, and at least some of the adjacent bonds present along the polymer backbone have seven or more consecutive carbon atoms. Polyamides having a sequence and having a relative viscosity of at least 20, measured at 25 ° C. using 8.4% polymer in formic acid and having a melting point in the range of 140 to 200 ° C. are used. The method allows lower temperatures than other polyamides. |
