abstract | The present invention relates to a novel galactan sulfate polysaccharide having antiviral activity isolated from Korean lily clam ( Meretrix lusoria ). More specifically, the present invention relates to beta-D-galactan sulfate polysaccharides and Korean-derived proteins that inhibit the growth of viruses by strongly inhibiting the interaction between glycoprotein gp120 on the surface of acquired immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) and host cell membrane protein CD4. The present invention relates to a method for making lily clam extracts from lily shells using proteases and the like, and separating and purifying galactan sulfate therefrom. |
