abstract | Graft copolymers comprising the backbone of a vinyl monomer graft polymerized propylene polymern n n (1) treating the propylene polymer with a free radical polymerization initiator,n n n (2) treating the propylene polymer with one or more graft monomers that can be polymerized by free radicals in the presence of a polymerization rate regulator; andn n n (3) unreacted graft monomers are removed from the graft copolymerized propylene polymer, decomposing the unreacted initiator and inactivating the free radicals remaining in the copolymerized propylene polymer. The use of a polymerization rate regulator extends the polymerization induction time on the polymer surface, thus promoting monomer diffusion into the polymer particles to inhibit surface polymerization of the monomers. |
