The present invention is a hydrophilic polymer segment, while having a poly (2-hydroxy ethyl (meth) acrylate) chain in the molecule, a hydrophobic polymer chain and a lipid residue derived from sterols are covalently bonded to one end of the chain. Or a poly (2-hydroxy ethyl (meth) acrylate) chain, as a graft chain, provides a modified polymer that is bonded to the central polymer chain at one end thereof. Such modified polymers exhibit excellent liquid or biocompatibility, and can be particularly useful in the medical field. |
