abstract |
The present invention includes a liquid crystal layer between two substrates each having an electrode, wherein at least two micro regions coexist in the liquid crystal layer, the electrode on one substrate has an opening, and within the region of the opening to control the initial orientation of the liquid crystal. A liquid crystal display device provided with a second electrode is provided. This liquid crystal display has improved properties such as high contrast, fast response, and excellent viewing angle characteristics and can be manufactured without demanding steps such as photoresist step. |
