The present invention relates to a porous composite sheet made of a mixture of polytetrafluoroethylene particles and liquid crystal polymer particles. The liquid crystal polymer in the porous composite sheet is in the form of particles contained within the polytetrafluoroethylene microstructure, or forms a mesh of liquid crystal polymer fibers bonded to or contained within the polytetrafluoroethylene microstructure. The porous composite sheet can be used as a self-reinforcing porous sheet, such as a filter medium. The pores of the composite sheet may be at least partially filled with a polymeric resin, and the composite sheets may be laminated to make a useful electrical assembly, such as a printed bottom plate. |
