Endothelial cell proliferation inhibitors in the form of fragments and aggregates and methods for their use are provided. The endothelial cell inhibitory factor is a protein derived from plasminogen, or, more specifically, an angiostatin fragment. The angiostatin fragment generally corresponds to the Kringle structure occurring within the endothelial cell proliferation inhibitory factor. Angiostatin is also prepared in the form of aggregates. The endothelial cell inhibitory activity of angiostatin fragments and angiostatin aggregates provides a means for treating angiogenesis inhibition and angiogenesis-mediated diseases of tumors. |
