titleOfInvention | Hydrogenation Catalyst of Aqueous Maleic Acid to 1.4-Butanediol |
abstract | The present invention is the catalytic hydrogenation of maleic acid, maleic anhydride or other hydrogenable precursors with 1,4-butanediol and tetrahydrofuran. 1,4-butanediol can be obtained in high yield when the hydrogenation catalyst comprises at least one of the precious metals of Group VIII of the periodic table and at least one of rhenium, tungsten or molybdenum on a carbon support in contact with the oxidant prior to depositing the metal. Found. The hydrogenation catalyst is prepared by the following steps (i) to (iii):n n n (Iii) oxidizing the carbon support by contacting the carbon support with an oxidant;n n n (Ii) infiltrating at least one penetration step comprising contacting the carbon support with at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Group VIII metal sources and rhenium, tungsten and molybdenum in at least one solution;n n n (Iii) after each infiltration step, the permeated carbon support is dried at a temperature of less than about 150 ° C. to remove the solvent; And,n n n (Iii) The impregnated carbon support is heated at a temperature of about 100 ° C to 350 ° C under reducing conditions. |
