In oral pharmaceutical formulations containing an acid sensitive proton pump inhibitor and one or more antacids or alginates in a fixed formulation, the proton pump inhibitor is protected by an enteric coating layer and any separation layer between the proton pump inhibitor and the enteric coating. A fixed dosage form is a dosage form in the form of a multi-layered tablet, sachet or multiunit tablet. Multi-unit dosage forms are most preferred. The novel fixed formulations are particularly useful in the treatment of disorders associated with dyspepsia such as stomach pain. |
