Recombinant C14 receptor, its agonist and antagonist, and nucleic acid encoding the receptor |
abstract |
Nucleic acid molecules encoding C140 cell surface receptors were cloned and sequenced. The utility of the C140 receptor allows for recombinant production of the C140 receptor, which can be produced on the surface of cells including oocytes. Nucleic acid molecules are useful in assays for the detection of receptor agonists, antagonists, or substances affecting C140 receptor activity. In addition, the elucidation of the structure of the C140 receptor allows the design of agonist and antagonist compounds useful in this assay. The utility of the C140 receptor also allows the production of antibodies that are specifically immunoreactive with one or more antigenic epitopes of the receptor. |
