titleOfInvention Foaming slag manufacturing method using multi-circuit lance
abstract Methods for improving post-combustion heat recovery in containers containing slag and molten ferrous metal charges include the use of lances to supply oxygen gas to the charges. The method includes blowing oxygen into the charge through at least one first nozzle of the lance to smelt the molten metal to be steel. Oxygen is at least at one location spaced above the first nozzle with an oxygen flow rate effective to produce a foamed slag in an amount to achieve at least about 40% post-combustion heat transfer efficiency without much overflow of slag from the vessel. Blown through at least one second nozzle of the lance; The oxygen flow rate coming out of the second nozzle is minimum near the beginning of the peak decarbonization period of the charge. Pellets containing iron oxide can be added to the charge. In this case, the oxygen flow rate coming out of the first nozzle can be reduced while the material containing iron oxide is added, and the reduced oxygen flow can be supplemented with an inert gas.
