abstract The present invention relates to a process for producing poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) by limiting the nitrogen source in the culture of alkaline generators (Alcalignens latus). More particularly, the present invention relates to a method of producing PHB with high productivity, high concentration and high content by limiting the nitrogen source in batch or fed-batch cultivation of alkaline generators. Therefore, according to the method of the present invention, high productivity, high concentration, and high content of PHB can be produced, so that the production cost of the PHB can be lowered and the general purpose of the PHB can be satisfied.
