titleOfInvention | Clip-on sheet for container carrier |
abstract | Sheets that can be used with conventional ring carriers have been disclosed to make packages that cover openable ends used in similar cans. The ring carrier unifies the arrangement of the cans in longitudinal bladder and transverse rows. The sheet includes an array of longitudinal parallel slit pairs corresponding to the arranged cans. Corner slits are curved at the corner end of the slit and promote positive corner wrap. Slits horizontally adjacent to the corner slits are bent and slits vertically adjacent to the corner slits are straight for most of their length. The two integral flaps extend transverse to the sheet and fold at an angle greater than 90 ° relative to the rest of the sheet. The sheet is folded in an array of cans unified by the ring carrier to form an assembled package. The seat portion adjacent to each pair of slits engages the chime portion of each corresponding can. Because of the slit and pre-folded integral flap structure according to the invention, the integral flap remains in a horizontal position with respect to the side wall of the outer row of the can. |
