titleOfInvention | Oxidation-curable coating composition |
abstract | The present invention relates to an oxidation-curable coating formulation comprising an oxidation-curable alkyd-based resin and a chelant capable of chelating at least one transition metal ion through 3 or 4 nitrogen atoms, wherein the chelant comprises 1 or 4 nitrogen atoms. It can be selectively complexed with two transition metal ions, typically iron or manganese ions, respectively. The formulation may be a paint or other oxidation curable coating composition. The present invention also provides methods of making such formulations and compositions resulting from curing such formulations. |
