titleOfInvention Exfoliated graphite composite coated with ZnO nanoparticles, method for preparing composite and use in Li-ion battery
abstract A composite comprising an exfoliated graphite support material coated with ZnO nanoparticles, having a degree of graphitization, g, in the range of 50 to 93% obtained by XRD Rietfeld analysis. These complexes are prepared by three different methods: A) a (new) method comprising the following sequential steps: i) dissolving the Zn(II) salt in a solvent; ii) adding graphite and base simultaneously; iii) stirring the mixture under the influence of ultrasound; iv) removing the solvent from the suspension; or B) a (pre-) method comprising the following successive steps: i) suspending graphite in a solvent and exfoliating it by ultrasonic influence; ii) simultaneous addition of Zn(II) salt and base to form nano-ZnO particles; iii) stirring the mixture; iv) removing the solvent from the suspension; or C) a (post) method comprising the following steps: i) mixing a Zn(II) salt and a base in a solvent in a first reactor to form nano-ZnO particles; ii) exfoliating the graphite in the second reactor by ultrasonic influence; iii) mixing together both the suspensions of i) and ii); iv) removing the solvent from the suspension after step iii). These coated composites can be tempered, re-coated and re-tempered in a further step.
