A process comprising: polymerizing an olefin monomer and optionally a comonomer in a first reactor vessel to form a raw product stream comprising polymerized solids, unreacted monomer and optionally comonomer; wherein the polymerized solid comprises an olefin polymer, a volatile organic compound (VOC) and a catalyst system. The polymerized solid is then contacted with a catalyst poison selected from carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxygen, water, alcohol, amine, or mixtures thereof to form a passivated stream. The passivated stream is maintained under stirring in the second reactor. The passivated stream in the second reactor is then contacted with a circulating gas comprising unreacted monomer for a residence time such that the concentration of VOC in the polymerized solid is at least 10 compared to the level prior to entering the second reactor. % by weight, thereby forming a purified olefin polymer solids stream. |
