Provided are a wavelength conversion member with little decrease in light emission intensity over time when irradiated with light from LED or LD, and a light emitting device using the same. A wavelength conversion member in which an inorganic phosphor is dispersed in a glass matrix, wherein the glass matrix contains, in mole %, SiO 2 30 to 85%, B 2 O 3 4.3 to 20%, Al 2 O 3 0 to 25%, Li 2 O 0 to 3%, Na 2 O 0 to 3%, K 2 O 0 to 3%, Li 2 O + Na 2 O + K 2 O 0 to 3%, MgO 0 to 35%, CaO 0 to 35%, 0 to 35% of SrO, 0 to 35% of BaO, 0.1 to 45% of MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO, and 0 to 5% of ZnO are contained, and the inorganic phosphor is an oxide phosphor, a nitride phosphor, an oxynitride phosphor, and a chloride. A wavelength conversion member comprising at least one member selected from the group consisting of a phosphor, an acid chloride phosphor, a halide phosphor, an aluminate phosphor, and a halophosphate phosphor. |
