abstract A method of manufacturing a device suitable for detecting X-rays is disclosed, comprising obtaining a substrate 122 having a first surface 124 and a second surface 128, wherein the substrate 122 silver, an electronics system 121 in or on the substrate 122 (including a plurality of electrical contacts 125 on the first surface 124 ); obtaining a first chip comprising a first X-ray absorbing layer 110 , wherein the first X-ray absorbing layer 110 includes an electrode; and bonding the first chip to the substrate 122 such that an electrode of the first X-ray absorbing layer 110 is electrically connected to at least one of the electrical contacts 125 .
