abstract The particle detector includes a housing, a light source and an optoelectronic material. The housing includes a sample inlet and a sample outlet and surrounds the detection cavity. The light source directs particles of sample fluid flowing in the detection cavity along a longitudinal axis. The optoelectronic material surrounds at least a portion of the detection cavity and receives measurement light propagating from the particles in a plurality of measurement light paths angled with respect to the longitudinal axis. A particle detector may be used to measure light emitted and/or scattered light due to spontaneous fluorescence. Sampled fluids may include aerosols, bioaerosols and liquids.
