abstract |
A method for forming a "functionalized ethylenic polymer" from a first composition comprising an ethylenic polymer and at least one polar compound and at least one peroxide, said method comprising at least: a) said first composition at least one heat treating in at least one extruder comprising a barrel of a functionalized ethylene-based polymer; b) extruding the functionalized ethylene-based polymer in the form of a melt to form an extrudate; c) cooling the extrudate; d) pelletizing the extrudate, wherein the “peroxide consumption efficiency” after the heat treatment is > 91 wt % in at least one extruder; the "standard feedrate" at which the method runs is ≥ 0.0018 (lbs/hr)/(mm) 3 ; In the case of step c ), after the extrudate exits the extruder and before pelletizing the extrudate, the extrudate is subjected to a pelletization temperature T pel ( ℃) in the refrigerant. |
