Dehydrogenation of lpg or ngl and flexible utilization of the olefins thus obtained |
abstract |
It is an object of the present invention to specify a process in which both C 5 and C 9 aldehydes can be produced economically. Here, the method should be able to provide with the lowest possible dependence on raw material suppliers and also be able to respond flexibly to fluctuations in demand for C 5 and C 9 aldehydes. The use of resources should also be optimized. The proposed method uses LPG or NGL as raw material. The process according to the invention differs essentially from the known processes based on LPG in that, after dehydrogenation and removal of by-products, the intermediate obtained is split into two parts. C 9 aldehydes are produced by oligomerization and hydroformylation from the first portion, while C 5 aldehydes are obtained by hydroformylation of the second portion. This has the important advantage that it is possible to flexibly split the intermediate into two parts so that more C 5 or more C 9 aldehydes can be produced according to the respective demand. |
