A motor-driven orthopedic impact delivery tool is provided for orthopedic impact delivery to the hip, knee, shoulder and the like. The tool may hold a broach, chisel, or other end effector, such that when tapped with a gently controlled striking impact, the tool may expand the size or volume of the opening in the cavity or facilitate removal of the broach, implant or other surgical instrument from the opening. . A store-energy actuation mechanism stores potential energy and then releases the potential energy to launch a launched mass or striker to transmit a striking force to the adapter either forward or backward. The tool may further include a combination anvil and adapter and an energy modulation mechanism for adjusting the striking force that the launched mass delivers to the adapter according to the patient profile. |
