Pharmaceutical compositions for topical administration in the form of solution and processes for the preparation thereof |
abstract |
The present invention relates to (i) itraconazole; (ii) ethanol as a volatile vehicle; (iii) benzyl alcohol as a solubilizer; (iv) hydrochloric acid as a protonating agent; (v) pH adjusting agents; and (vi) polyoxyl castor oil or polyoxyl hydrogenated castor oil as a permeation enhancer. The pharmaceutical composition according to the present invention can effectively improve the solubility and stability of itraconazole. In particular, the pharmaceutical composition according to the present invention exhibits a remarkably high skin permeability. Therefore, the pharmaceutical composition according to the present invention can increase the recovery rate of fungal-infected skin lesions while exhibiting low side effects, and thus can be effectively used for topical fungal infections. |
