titleOfInvention Method for preparing acetic acid
abstract A method for producing acetic acid in which acetaldehyde, which is a by-product, can be industrially advantageously separated and removed in a liquid separation step of separating processes into an aqueous phase and an organic phase. In the present invention, the liquid separation step satisfies the following conditions (vi) to (viii), for example, and at least a portion of the aqueous phase is treated in the acetaldehyde separation and removal step. (vi) the acetaldehyde concentration in the aqueous phase is 28.1% by mass or less, and/or the acetaldehyde concentration in the organic phase is 24.8% by mass or less (vii) the temperature at the time of liquid separation is 70° C. or less (viii) the methyl acetate concentration in the aqueous phase is 12.0 mass% or less, and/or the methyl acetate concentration in the organic phase is 47.6 mass% or less, and/or the sum of the methyl acetate concentration in the aqueous phase and the methyl acetate concentration in the organic phase is 59.6 mass% or less .
