The present disclosure includes biodegradable polymers based on trimethylene carbonate (TMC) having a molar fraction of polylactic acid (PLA) and/or polyglycolic acid (PGA) used to deliver a bioactive agent to a target site It relates to an injectable formulation. Excipients such as polyethylene glycol (PEG) may be added to the formulation to reduce the force required for injection and/or to control the release of the bioactive agent. Biodegradable polymers suitable for use in injectable formulations include D,L-PLA:TMC, D-PLA:TMC, L-PLA:TMC, TMC:PLA:PGA and variants thereof. In addition, a copolymer of TMC and PLA and a terpolymer of TMC:PLA:PGA can be formed into nanoparticles and delivered to a target site in an injectable cross-linkable polyethylene glycol system. In one or more embodiments, the injectable formulation is used to treat an ocular disease. |
