titleOfInvention Glass articles having films with moderate adhesion and retained strength
abstract One or more aspects of the present disclosure relate to an article comprising a film disposed on a glass substrate that can be strengthened, wherein an interface between the film and the glass substrate causes the article to have improved average flexural strength and , the film is modified to retain key functional properties for its application. Some key functional properties of the film include optical, electrical and/or mechanical properties. In one or more embodiments, the interface exhibits an effective adhesion energy of less than about 4 J/m 2 . In some embodiments, the interface is modified by the inclusion of an inorganic-containing crack mitigating layer between the glass substrate and the film.
