A film having a good appearance, a low in-plane retardation Re, and a high thickness-direction retardation Rth, and a method for producing such a film are provided. Moreover, using the said optical film, the change of retardation by a wavelength is small, or the laminated optical film with small retardation in a low wavelength is provided. The molten resin was sandwiched between a first cooling roll made of a metallic elastic roll and a second cooling roll made of a metallic non-elastic roll, and molded to obtain an optical film. The external appearance of this optical film was favorable, the absolute value of in-plane retardation Re was 10 nm or less, and retardation Rth of thickness direction was 40 nm or more. |
