Particles comprising pectin and gelatin are disclosed. The particles can be used to make any of a variety of products, such as, for example, soft pharmaceutical capsules, hard pharmaceutical capsules and food products. Also disclosed is a method for preparing the particles, the method comprising the steps of: (a) dissolving pectin in an aqueous solution to produce a dissolved pectin aqueous solution; (b) mixing the dissolved pectin aqueous solution with liquid gelatin to prepare a gelatin/pectin mixture; (c) drying the gelatin/pectin mixture; and (d) milling the gelatin/pectin mixture to prepare a plurality of particles. |
