titleOfInvention Efficient modulated imaging
abstract An apparatus for measuring a turbid sample includes a plurality of light sources illuminating a turbid sample target area with non-spatial structured light, a projection system for controlling a turbid sample target with spatial structured light, and light from the turbid sample target site. A sensor to collect and a processor to analyze data captured by the sensor to calculate scattering and absorption coefficients of the turbid sample. The method of measuring a turbid sample includes illuminating a sample with spatially structured light, collecting light reflected from the sample at multiple wavelengths, illuminating the sample with non-spatial structured light, and the sample at multiple wavelengths. Collecting light reflected from and combining the measurements of the collected light to obtain an optical property and/or a concentration of absorbing or fluorescent molecules of the sample. It is preferable that the wavelengths of the spatial and non-spatial light sources are different from each other.
