titleOfInvention | Elevators and counterweights moving independently in hoistway |
abstract | The elevator system uses a number of cabs and counterweights that move independently on each elevator shaft. Each cap is connected to one or more counterweights that are spatially separated at different counterweight connection points. The connection points are shifted horizontally on different cabs to prevent interference between cabs, cables, pulleys and counterweights. The top cap may have one counterweight cable and may be connected to one or more counterweights by connection points on the roof of the cab. These caps are mounted on two opposing vertical guide rails, each guide rail being mounted in the center of one side of the elevator shaft. The system includes a motor that is attached to each cab by one or more lift cables to facilitate independent movement of all cabs. Existing buildings can also be renovated for compatibility with the present invention. |
