A novel fibrinogen-based tissue adhesive patch is described. The patch includes a back made from an impermeable biocompatible polymer film incorporating a pigibrinogen-based sealant. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the fibrinogen-based sealant comprises fibrinogen, thrombin and CaCl 2 . The polymer backing serves to seal the tissue to which the patch is applied, and the sealant only serves to bind the patch to the affected tissue. The patch does not contain any mesh or woven components. A method of creating a patch is also described. |
