abstract The biocompatible, reabsorbable composite for osteosynthesis includes bone conductive particles dispersed in a porous polymer matrix, the polymer matrix having a plurality of fluid passages exposing at least a portion of the plurality of bone conductive particles to the outside of the polymer matrix. . The composite may further include chemical additives incorporated into the polymer matrix, which chemical additives are configured to alter one or more of the acidity, decomposition rate, melting point, hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity of the polymer matrix. A method of making a composite comprises mixing bone-conductive particles with a polymeric material and a chemical additive to form a mixture, and treating the mixture to bond the bone-conductive particles with the polymeric material to form solid units.
