titleOfInvention Devices and methods for radiation-based dermatological treatments
abstract A compact handheld device is provided for providing radiation-based skin treatment, for example skin resurfacing, skin regeneration, wrinkle treatment, pigment removal or reduction, hair removal, acne treatment, skin tightening, and the like. The device may comprise an automatic scanning system for delivering one or more radiation sources (e.g., one or more lasers) and an array of scanning beams to the skin, while the device creates an array of discrete treatment points on the skin. To create, it is moved manually across the skin, for example to provide partial treatment. The automatic scanning system may include a rotating multi-sector scanning element configured to repeatedly scan the input beam, each scan of the input beam providing an array of output beams corresponding to multiple sectors of the scanning element and providing the skin with an array of treatment points. To form a scan row. Each sector of the rotating multi-sector scanning element can provide a constant angular-direction output beam. The treatment points of each scan row can be spaced apart from each other by regions of non-irradiated skin. The device may comprise a treatment point control system programmed to provide a defined minimum distance between adjacent rows of treatment points in the direction of manual movement of the device.
