The present invention provides methods and kits for isolating miRNAs from biological fluids. Specifically, the method contacts a biological fluid with a surface active agent and an anti-miRNA-binding protein reagent, wherein the surface active agent dissociates the biological fluid component, and the anti-miRNA-binding protein reagent is a miRNA-binding protein associated with a miRNA.
