titleOfInvention | Improved powdered thermoplastic polyolefin elastomer composition for slush molding |
abstract | The present invention relates to a thermoplastic polyolefin elastomer composition in powder form comprising an olefin block copolymer and optionally comprising high density polyethylene (HDPE), the composition having a Shore A hardness of greater than 75 and a Tg of less than -45°C. , The intrinsic melting point peak is greater than 95° C., the zero shear viscosity is 1,200 Pa·s or less, and 85% of the particles range from 150 μm to 420 μm and have a particle size distribution without particles larger than 500 μm. The composition exhibits excellent grinding and flow properties at 5° C. or at a temperature lower than the intrinsic melting point peak of the olefin block copolymer. In another aspect, the present invention relates to a method of making the thermoplastic polyolefin elastomer powder and to a use for using the powder. In a further aspect, the present invention provides a slush molding of the thermoplastic polyolefin elastomer composition into a sheath, for example a sheath for automotive interior products, sporting products, housings and building products, packing materials, covering materials, toys, hollow parts, etc. It relates to a method of rotational molding. |
