titleOfInvention | Continuous culture for 1,3-propanediol production using high glycerine concentration |
abstract | The present invention relates to a novel method for producing 1,3-propanediol comprising culturing a microorganism in a culture medium having a high glycerin content. The present invention also relates to novel microorganisms, or strains of microorganisms, adapted to produce 1,3-propanediol from a medium containing high glycerin content. The present invention also relates to "adjusted microorganisms" such that glycerol metabolism is directed towards the production of 1,3-propanediol and can grow in the presence of high concentrations of industrial glycerin. The invention also relates to biosourced 1,3-propanediol obtained by the method. Finally, the present invention relates to the use of the above-described bio-source 1,3-propanediol as a chain extender in thermoplastic polyurethane, as a monomer in polytrimethylene terephthalate, and as a component in cosmetic preparations. |
