abstract | The present invention provides a method for generating a three-dimensional representation of a region of interest on a target object in an X-ray imaging system. This method uses a reference marker of the recognized geometry. The region of interest and the fiducial marker are taken within a plurality of predetermined locations. A predicted image of the fiducial marker for each predetermined location is calculated and compared to the captured image of the fiducial marker at each predetermined location. The difference between the predicted image and the captured image is used to generate a corrected image of the region of interest for each predetermined location and these corrected images are used to generate a three-dimensional model of the region of interest. This method does not require expensive mechanical positioning systems and allows the creation of useful three-dimensional models of the region of interest of the X-ray imaging system. |
