The control system is designed or configured to control the state of charge of the battery or battery pack in the system including a separate power source separate from the battery or battery pack. In operation, a battery or battery pack requires that power be intermittently provided for some function. For example, the separate power source may be an AC electrical power source for the UPS or engine of a vehicle such as a micro hybrid vehicle. The battery may be a nickel zinc aqueous battery. The control system can be designed or configured to perform one or more of the following functions, such as monitoring the state of charge of a battery or battery pack, when the battery or battery pack is not performing its function, or from a separate power source. Instructing the battery pack to recharge quickly, charging to a fully charged level, or in response to an operating system, to charge to a float charging level that is different from the fully charged level. |
