New classes of non-stainless steels with high strength and high ductility |
abstract |
The present disclosure relates to formulations and methods for providing non-stainless steel alloys having relatively high strength and ductility. The alloy may be provided in sheet or pressed form and may be characterized by the chemical composition and recognizable crystalline grain size forms of the particular alloy thereof. The alloy is that they comprise a boride pinning phase. In what is referred to as class 1 steel, the alloys exhibit tensile strengths of 630 Mpa to 1100 MPa and elongation of 10 to 40%. Class 2 steel exhibits tensile strengths of 875 MPa to 1590 MPa and elongation of 5 to 30%. Class 3 steels exhibit tensile strengths of 1000 MPa to 1750 MPa and elongation of 0.5 to 15%. |
