Methods include using biocompatible, bioabsorbable nanospheres to selectively reduce or swell T cells depending on the antigenic specificity of the T cells. Thus, the present invention can be used to reduce or eliminate pathogenic T cells that recognize autologous antigens such as beta cell specific T cells and the like. Likewise, the present invention can be used to prevent, treat or ameliorate autoimmune diseases such as diabetes sensitive places and the like. Moreover, the present invention can be used to prevent, treat or ameliorate autoimmune diseases by expanding preferred T cells, such as anti-pathogenic T cells and the like. |
