abstract The present invention discloses an antidiabetic composition employing a novel compound hexadecaphlorethol ( HdP ) isolated from Ishige okamurae and a compound thereof. The novel compound, HdP, inhibits the activity of alpha-glucosidase and induces glucose uptake of C2C12, which is a source cell, and induces glucose uptake in the blood of zebrafish with decreased insulin secretion by alloxan treatment And has an activity of decreasing the glucose concentration.
