High affinity human antibodies to human cytomegalovirus (cmv) gb protein |
abstract |
Antibodies against human cytomegalovirus (CMV) gB protein were isolated from human B cells. The affinity of these antibodies is higher than the best antibodies reported previously. Since the high affinity is crucial to preventing the transmission of the virus through the placenta, the antibodies of the invention are useful as pharmaceutical or prophylactic agents for preventing or alleviating the effects of CMV infection during pregnancy on the fetus. |
