abstract |
An apparatus and method for improving the power added efficiency and linearity of a radio frequency power amplifier implemented in a flip chip configuration are disclosed. In some embodiments, a harmonic termination circuit may be provided to be separate from the output matching network configured to provide impedance matching at the fundamental frequency. The harmonic termination circuit may be configured to terminate in a phase corresponding to the harmonic frequency of the power amplifier output. This configuration of separate basic matching networks and harmonic termination circuits allows each to be individually adjusted to improve performance parameters such as power added efficiency and linearity. |
