abstract The present invention relates to a process for producing ultra-high molecular weight polyalphaolefins. The process consists in polymerizing alpha olefin monomers using a catalyst system consisting of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst supported in the presence of an alkyl aluminum based co-catalyst without an internal donor. The resulting ultrahigh molecular weight polyalphaolefins having an intrinsic viscosity of at least 10 dL / g are used as friction reducing polymers to increase throughput in pipelines by reducing frictional resistance in turbulent flow.
