titleOfInvention Switch element comprising a liquid-crystalline medium
abstract The present invention is directed to a switch element that is thermally reactive and switches between a state that is less transmissive to radiant energy and a state that is more conductive to radiant energy, including a liquid crystal medium. The present invention further relates to the use of a switching element for regulating the flow of radiation energy between the inner space and the surrounding environment and the temperature of the inner space. The present invention also relates to a liquid crystal medium characterized in that it comprises, in particular, from 5 to 95% of a compound of the general formula (I) for use in a switching element according to the invention.
