titleOfInvention Filtering face-piece respirator having foam shaping layer
abstract Discloses a face-through mask (10) having a mask (14) and a mask body (12). The mask body 12 is configured to achieve a cozy face fit without the use of additional components such as an elastomeric face seal, a nose foam, or a nose clip. The mask body 12 includes a filtration structure 18 and a cup-shaped shaping layer 20 wherein the cup-shaped shaping layer 20 has a closed cell foam layer having a plurality of fluid- . The openings occupy 30% or more of the total surface area of the shaping layer including the middle region of the shaping layer. The filtration structure is disposed in the same space above the shaping layer. The shaping layer 20 contacts the wearer's face at the mask body periphery 19 when wearing a respirator. Despite the openness of the foam molding layer on most of the surface area, the use of the foam molding layer with the same space filtration structure provides sufficient structural integrity or rigidity to prevent collapse of the mask body during use of the respirator, To provide low respiratory resistance and increased wearer comfort.
