titleOfInvention | Combinations including cry3aa and cry6aa proteins to prevent development of resistance in corn rootworms (diabrotica spp.) |
abstract | The present invention relates to Cry3Aa in combination with Cry6Aa. The present invention surprisingly finds that the combination of Cry3Aa and Cry6Aa is useful for inhibiting resistance development (for one of the single live insecticidal protein systems) by a population of maize root worms ( Diabrotica spp.) . Corn plants that produce these insecticidal Cry proteins useful in alleviating the concern that the corn rootworm population may develop resistance to one of these insecticidal protein systems alone. Plants that produce these two insecticidal protein systems (and the cultivated area where the plants are grown) are also within the scope of the present invention. The invention also relates, in part, to a combination of Cry3Aa and Cry6Aa proteins that form a "triple stack" or "multiple stack " with other insecticidal protein (s) such as Cry6Aa protein or bivalent Cry34 / 35 protein. Thus, such embodiments target the root worm in three modes of action. Transgenic plants, including maize, including the cry6Aa gene and the cry3Aa gene are included within the scope of the present invention. |
