titleOfInvention Hydrogen peroxide sterilization method
abstract A method of metering supply of hydrogen peroxide gas to an emptied chamber is disclosed. The method includes continuously monitoring pressure within the sterilization chamber; Evacuating the passageway by connecting a passage of a known volume to the emptied chamber; Sealing said passageway; Coupling the passageway to a source of hydrogen peroxide solution for a time sufficient to draw the hydrogen peroxide solution into the evacuated passageway and fill the passageway; Sealing said passageway; And repeating these steps until a preselected pressure increase in the sterilization chamber is sensed. The pressure increase is preferably 19 Torr. The known volume of metering passages is preferably between 75 [mu] L and 15 [mu] L to control the unnecessary condensation of hydrogen peroxide in the sterilization chamber. Costly peroxide concentration measurement systems are replaced by economical low cost pressure sensors for controlling the concentration of hydrogen peroxide.
