abstract |
Described is a method for removing nitrous oxide from a gas stream having a contaminated concentration of nitrous oxide to provide a gas stream having a substantially reduced concentration of nitrous oxide. The process comprises the use of a process system having several N 2 O decomposition reactors each containing a nitrous oxide decomposition catalyst and a heat transfer unit each containing a heat sink medium effectively connected in a particular sequence and arrangement used in the process . The gas stream passes through a process system operating in a particular mode of operation for a period of time, and then this operation stops and the process stream reverses. These steps can be undertaken repeatedly to provide improved energy recovery efficiency for a given nitrous oxide destruction efficiency. |
